The book "Clandestine Photography: Basic and Advance Daytime and Nighttime Manual Surveillance Photography Techniques - For Military Special Operations Forces, Law Enforcement, Intelligence Agencies and Investigators" is the bible to the art and science of surreptitious photography. This can be a very complicated subject, but with this manual a lot of the trial and error is already done for you excelling your learning curve. This allows the surveillance operator to focus on the physical learning of the skill-set with limited experimentation. I have seen surveillance operators spend numerous hours employing tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP), as well as learning to use the related equipment incorrectly. The surveillance operator armed with this book and the proper user's manual to the specific equipment employed will save countless man-hours in training and operations, producing a quality end product. This book covers every subject one would need to know to successfully pull-off a photographic surveillance operation from pre-mission planning, equipment selection, to what TTPs to employ, as well as post mission maintenance and refit. Although this book focuses on basic and advanced still photography the majority of the TTPs can be employed for video surveillance operations as well. Additionally, as the cover states, this book is for police and special operations forces, this is not a marketing ploy to sell the book. The book does an excellent job specifically catering to these organizations and intertwines clandestine photography with current military TTPs. Overall, I cannot recommend this book more to police and military surveillance operators, but also believe that the civilian photographer may find relevant information also in this book. This book is well worth its cost so do not let it scare you away. This book deals with everything from the conventional basic stuff up to more sophisticated, clandestine methods of photography.
The authors present ways to minimize equipment costs and presents methods to put together low cost optical systems that can match equipment that cost more than 10 times as much.
The manual is very understandable, very well-illustrated, and if you you are on a limited budget, buy this book and learn how to get the best bang for your buck.

Too many small group communication textbooks focus on the group and not the individual in the group. It covers enough material but not in too much depth for a first-year student to understand the basics of small group communication. Additionally, I like the interpersonal approach this text takes in regards to the individual in the small group. Our students need to know how to 'act' in a small group, and this book provides that direction. Moreover, I think the small case studies at the beginning of each chapter will encourage the student to actually read the chapter because they are interesting and relate to our students’ everyday lives." About the Author

Scott A. Myers (PhD, Kent State University) is a professor and Peggy Rardin McConnell Chair in the Department of Communication Studies at West Virginia University (WVU) where he teaches courses in instructional communication, organizational communication, and communication pedagogy. His research interests center primarily on the student-instructor relationship in the college classroom and the adult sibling relationship, with his research appearing in outlets such as Communication Education, Journal of Family Communication, Communication Research Reports, and Communication Quarterly, among others. At WVU, he was recognized by the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences as a Woodburn Professor (2005–2007) and as an Outstanding Teacher in 2010. He is a former editor of Communication Teacher, a former executive director of the Central States Communication Association (CSCA), and a past president of CSCA.

This Book Pays Divdends!

Very good. So appropriate for upper level communication majors. I use the scenarios at each chapter launch as class role plays. We go on to actual small group teams that are given research topics along actual business lines. This is my third year to use the text. One of my students led a small group in his business venture in Uganda, Africa, that was recognized by an Oxford University enterprise consortium and he won a cash prize!

While nearly half the selections have their origins in South Africa, the rest represent some of the continent's most cherished tales and come from Botswana, Swaziland, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and other sub-Saharan countries as well as a single selection from Morocco. Each story is introduced with a short provenance or source note, and a frontispiece map matches each tale with its geographical area. Told by a variety of storytellers and folklorists, or gleaned from previously published sources, the tellings vary from literary to contemporary. The book also provides a showcase for 18 illustrators, mostly from South Africa, who contributed one full-page illustration per story. This is a rich collection that would provide depth and breadth to any classroom study alongside the many single-tale picture-book editions readily found on library shelves.

These stories are delightful, the illustrations are superb...I bought a copy for my grand-daughter, and was so enthralled that I ordered a second copy for me!

2010 winner of audiobook of the year!

This audiobook was awarded the 2010 Audies for Audiobook of the Year and Best Multi-Voiced Audiobook. It was nominated for a Grammy, received a number of other accolades and awards.

The story readings on this audiobook are wonderful for children of all ages and adults as well, and your purchase supports children in South Africa orphaned by AIDS.

The readings are done by numerous remarkable actors including Gillian Anderson, Benjamin Bratt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Whoopi Goldberg, Sean Hayes, Samuel L. Jackson, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Debra Messing, Helen Mirren, Parminder Nagra, Sophie Okonedo, CCH Pounder, Alan Rickman, Jurnee Smollett, Charlize Theron, Blair Underwood, Forest Whitaker, and Alfre Woodard with a message from Desmond Tutu and music by African legends Johnny Clegg and Vusi Mahlasela.

Excellent, entertaining read-aloud stories

I have been reading these aloud at bedtime to my 8 year old twins and they both love them! Why? They are anything but predictable! I think they have come to expect happy endings or moral lessons, but these stories often have twists that surprise them. Not a lot of illustrations, but the ones they have are lovely and diverse. We have enjoyed looking at the map of Africa marked with flags of where the stories come from. Also have had the opportunity to talk about Nelsen Mandela and his story, which is new to them. Great all around book!
