About the Author

Greg Lukosek

Greg Lukosek was born and raised in the Upper Silesia region of Poland. When he was about 8 years old, his amazing parents bought him and his brother a Commodore C64. That was when his love of programming started. He would spend hours writing simple basic code, and when he couldn't write it on the computer directly, he used a notepad. Greg completed his mechanical engineering diploma at ZSTiO Meritum― Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland. He has learned all his programming skills through determination and hard work at home. Greg met the love of his life, Kasia, in 2003, which changed his life forever. They both moved to London in search of adventure and decided to stay there. He started work as a 3D artist and drifted away from programming for some years. Deep inside, he still felt the urge to come back to game programming. During his career as a 3D artist, he discovered Unity and adopted it for an interactive visualizations project. At that very moment, he started programming again. His love for programming overcomes his love for 3D graphics. Greg ditched his 3D artist career and came back to writing code professionally. He is now doing what he really wanted to do since he was 8 years old―developing games. These days, Greg lives in a little town called Sandy in the UK with Kasia and their son, Adam.

Not a programmer? Start with this book.

I have been trying to learn Unity for about 8 months. This is where I should have started 8 months ago. If you have no experience with coding then this is the book for you. 99% of Unity tutorials and books assume you are coming from a coding background and quickly tell you what code to write and don't bother to explain it. This is the first book that I have found that actually teaches you C# as it teaches you Unity. I really cannot recommend this book enough if you are coming to Unity from really any background other than computer science. I would pair this book with "Foundations of Programming: Fundamentals" by Simon Allardice on lynda and also Unity's tutorial "Roll-a-ball" for a complete beginners course.

He is a former Navy SEAL, Stanford Medical Center Researcher, and bodyguard for President Hamid Karzai, of Afghanistan.

As I read through the book it's like reliving my time in the FAMs....the personalities....the "supervisors"....the "SS clique"....the lack of standards as "its who you know"....Clay did a great job capturing the feel of what today's Air Marshals have to contend with. God Bless the men and women who are out there daily protecting our nation's transportation system; they will forever be vigilant regardless of the bureaucracy.

FAM time...

Having been at the SFFO from it's inception to 4/12, when I transferred to the MOC/TSOC, I can say that there are facts of FAMS reality revealed in the book. Personality differences, rumors, and individual perceptions aside, the FACT that DC FAMS management instituted a culture of fear, intimidation, and nepotism is known by all in the agency. The book shares one FAM's experience of that rotten festering management mentality. He never claimed to be perfect.

This is an excellent resource. One of the precious few in the plate heat-exchange field. There are, however, a number of typographical errors, which do need to be corrected into an erratum listing. Were this in place, a 5-star listing would have been given.

A great new series

Star Voyager Academy is the beginning of a great new series of military fiction written in the spirit of Heinlein. Justin is the ordinary child of a martyrd space hero, trying to fill some enormous footprints and fearing that he just isn't big enough. Matt is a "Solar Sailor". Orphaned as a small child he grew up saiing the solar wind with only his uncle and an ancient robot for company. The two orphaned cadets become close friends as they stuggle through the plebe year at the Academy.This was a great beginning of what promises to be a good quality series and I anxiously await the sequal.

I like this book so much, I came here looking for a sequel!

Star Voyager Academy is the story of 16 year old Justin Bell and his classmates as they experience scrub summer at the U.N. military academy 150 years in the future. Justin won his appointment to the academy when his father, a military officer, died saving 500 people. Justin feels he doesn't belong and doesn't deserve appointment when so many of his classmates are the best and brightest of Earth and its colonies. In the background is the hot political question of whether the colonies should be given their independence and freedom from the governmental control and taxation of Earth. There are strong emotions on both sides, and many of Justin's classmates already feel torn by their oath to the academy and their loyality to their homes. Mostly though, this is the story of young men and women as they struggle to survive their first summer and adapt to life at Star Voyager Academy.

This is essentially a juvenile science fiction novel. It's main characters and, I believe, it's intended readers are young adults. This is not to knock the story though. I greatly enjoyed this novel, and I no longer fit into the catagory of a young reader. I found it very engrossing and hard to put down. I enjoyed its story of a young man maturing and finding his future as well as its representation of what a young military cadet goes through in his or her first summer. I enjoyed the book so much I immediately began searching for a sequel. Unfortunately there is none, but I hope that one day William R. Forstchen may develop Star Voyager Academy into a series. I would certainly enjoy reading more.

I always had a soft spot for coming of age stories. I found the world interesting and believable. The charters were developed and their dynamics as a group well thought out. I am looking forward to how the story and charades develop.

Another triumph for Maya

Once again in her continuing autobiography Maya Angelou allows us into her world. She lets you know that she is just as human as the rest of us. I loved this book. It is well worth the money and I can't believe anyone would want to sell this book for a lousy 1.59 Maya's books should be bronzed and kept forever.

Don't get the Kindle edition

I got the Kindle version lured by the lower price. Although the content is excellent on the Kindle the numerous sidebars and illustrations make it hard to follow. Also, the black and white photos are not as illustrative as a print version. Kindle are great for general reading but not for technical manuals like this.and r

I love this book. I am not a high performance auto person but I wanted a good ignition system reference and I got it. The pictures are very well done and the explanations are very well thought out.

Thank you for sending this to me. It will stay on my shelf for a long time coming. I love it.

If you want better explanations of how ignition systems (and more) work, then spend the money. You won't be disappointed.

I've had the original version of this book for a very long time and have always considered it an excellent resource. This updated version adds all of the pertinent information that we hot rodders need to know about the latest technologies in ignition products as well as expanding on several topics that are beneficial to gaining an understanding on how to put such products to work. It contains a volume of information that any car guy can put to use immediately.

Todd's explanations are clear, concise, and easy to follow. I really like the overall layout of this book as it takes you from the fundamentals to the advanced in a very fluid manner. There are so many hints, tips, and tricks within this book that I was never compelled to skip to the next topic or chapter. Overall, this book is one of the easiest to read automotive books that I'm aware of.

If you desire to become the expert on ignition systems - be it points, CD, or DIS - this book is a must own.

Presos de sus palabras es un libro que comenc� sin ninguna expectativa… pero el cual me encanto un mont�n.
Es la primera vez que leo algo de estas autoras, pero ahora (despu�s de leer este libro) s� que no ser� el �ltimo, porque me he quedado muy satisfecha con lo que encontr� y quiero m�s.
La historia es excitante, viene muy cargadito… pero no se pasa con las escenas de sexo, hay algo m�s detr�s, una historia que har� a uno sonre�r, querer matar a alguien, sentir todo lo que padecen los personajes.
En cuanto a ellos, los AME a todos, cada uno tiene ese algo especial que no dejara a nadie indiferente.

Couldn't put it down

I read this book in one sleepless night. The Promise of Protection is the hair-raising story of a woman who had a love affair with a made man, and then must flee with her children when the truth about her "friend" and his business threatens her and her family's life.
It's also the story of an incredibly strong woman who navigates life and love and dire circumstances, and comes out stronger in the end.
The fact that it's a true story chills and uplifts me at the same time.

Riveting story of courage and strength

Exciting story that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. It's a fun read that will encompasses everything from romance to action. That fact that this is a true story still blows my mind. Great read about a woman's whose world is turned upside town after learned some truths about the man she's fallen in love with.

A Powerful Memoir That Valiantly Engages The Reader

In her riveting memoir, The Promise of Protection: A True Story of Witness Protection, Christine K. Lowrie invites the reader for a ride down the rapids. We travel with Celi as she navigates with skill forged from a bruised life experience, intelligence, courage, wit and vulnerability. The reader cheers for Celi while desperately trying to warn her, as both the story and fear unfold. Yearning for romance and family, Celi's choices are central to the telling of her story. The characters that populate the pages evoke a parallel sense of hope and desperation. The reader comes to know whom to dread.

Anyone who hails from the '60s will find familiar sites and sounds along the way. Ms. Lowrie turns a phrase with color while deferring to the detailed memories of a woman who came of age in the pre-and post Vietnam era. She provides an artful balance of place, mood and style. Although trusting Ms. Lowrie to get Celi safely to the shallows, the only option for the reader is to keep a firm grip as Celi employs every ounce of intellect, cunning and courage to keep her family safely on the run from organized crime.

Celi's search for protection is threaded throughout, as she also navigates the inner landscape of her life. It is through this adventure that Ms. Lowrie invites the reader to consider his/her own life decisions and the compelling consequences of love; often characterized by loss that is hopefully burnished to resilience. Celi's search requires her to orienteer through this inner landscape and to consider the wider possibilities. There is more to explore. From the heart of her humanness, Ms. Lowrie leaves the reader with the same compelling invitation.

This is a powerful memoir that valiantly engages the reader. I highly recommend it!
